Back in the 50's and early 60's you could buy wide white wall add on's for black wall tires.Ok. I don't remember seeing too many taxi's with wide whites but I guess it was the era.
The tire was deflated and the add on was stretched over the rim.
A neighbor had them on his 59 - we called them 'porta-walls'........
