The 315 HP was in the last few monts of the production of the 58 available

I owned a 1959 Chevy Impala convertible 348 tri power solid lifter 315 HP 348 4 speed back in 1964.

The photo of the road test , that I posted yesterday , comes from our own forums library. The test is from January 58, so the 315 HP 348 must have already existed at the end of 1957.
Once read that the 315 HP could initially only be ordered by the police, but later also by normal customers. I can't remember where I read it at the moment... you're not getting any younger

The 315 hp was not available in Jan 58 because the block and heads with spark plug cooling jacket weren't out yet. The second version of the 872 block came out in late Feb 58 primarily for truck use with engine T327 and later in May as I recall for the 315 hp in the pass car engine T521FB. That article must have been in a post May 58 issue. I have the original magazine somewhere but I would have to search for it to get the date.

Keep in mind that this engine was the first to use the heads with spark plug cooling so don't try to put those plugs in the 291 heads.:no
