Welcome, Jackie.......... You might think of calling Showcars www.dr409.com and ordering a hard copy catalogue. Much can be learned by just thumbing through the pages.
:+1 IF you do order from Ecklers (same goes for a lot of places) first sign up for emails from them because they have some kind of promotion going on all the time. Whether it's 10 to 30% off or free shipping.....Ecklers does this a lot.

ShowCars has ALWAYS been great to deal with. Bruce has helped me many times.

Jackie,

Wecome to the zoo. Keep your hands and legs inside the ride at all times with the seat belt tight and low in your lap. Your project looks like a great starting point. You have a very good resource right there in MH for car. Make friends with Jim at Desert Sky Salvage across the freeway. Stay out of his truck unless you like five dirty dogs in your lap. I think I lived in your house back in 1960 !

We are in Boise so if I can help you in any way PM me and I'll get ahold of you.

Auto City is a place many people here recommend for glass.

I searched Ecklers for the drains, see here:

http://www.lategreatchevy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=drain&x=0&y=0

When searching these sites for parts, I find using the minimum word or words will help find stuff. In this search, I just put in the word "drain", sometimes when you put in say "windshield drain", it pulls up all parts with each word in it.

Show Cars has them too, with an extra set of the grommet ends in a different shape, some are round, some are rectangular. I think the fronts are round and in my El Camino, the rear glass drains were rectangular. I prefer to order from Show Cars.

Welcome aboard Jackie. First off everyone here are total gearheads so your in the right crowd. Looks like you have a very nice 59' project. My suggestion would be to get the wiring sorted out first. American Auto Wire http://www.americanautowire.com/ or M&H Electrical http://www.wiringharness.com/ are both good sources for new factory wiring harnesses that will plug right in. I am not a fan of Eklers. Hubbards Impala parts is a good source https://www.impalaparts.com/ or Restoration World who formally owned Eklers http://www.restoration-world-chevy-parts.com/ would be better choices I think. Also Show Cars as Don mentioned http://www.show-cars.com/
As far as the Shop and assembly manuals ebay or your local swap meet is probably your best bet.
There are several here that are restoring cars and a ton of knowledge and willing to help with any questions you may have. Finding the correct parts is sometimes a challenge and the members here are always willing to help out so don't hesitate to ask if there is something you can't find.
Its nice to see the younger generation pick up the tools and show a interest in these old wrecks, they just don't make them like this anymore. Also we love pics so keep up with the pics and progress.

Sorry everyone that it has been a while since I was last here...
The reason why is because I have been busy working on the car. What I have done recently to the car is I put a tachometer in the car. I also had to put a new clutch fan in because the old clutch fan was making a nasty loud growling sound. She runs a whole lot quieter now with the new (quiet) clutch fan.

Great start to a cool project hood has 348 crossflags Pat

Hi Pat.
I have been doing some more research on the history of the car. I think what the car may have originally came with is a 6-cylinder with a 3-speed manual on the column.
Then later on, someone swapped these out with a 348 out of another '59 Impala and a 3-speed automatic transmission.
Why the car has 348 crossflags? This is where I get really confused... The 348 crosslags look very faded, as if these crossflags were from '59. Now even more confusion to the story- in the engine compartment, the fan shroud is a small block fan shroud instead of a 348 big block fan shroud.

Advice taken.
I signed up for Ecklers emails.
So I will see how it goes ordering from Ecklers 1st and if I see they're not very good to deal with I will go with Showcars from then on out.

Hi Bill and Linda.
Funny that you say that- my car doesn't even have seat belts. I don't see the mounting holes for them either so I don't think my car was offered with the option of seat belts. Now in these days, every car has seat belts. I know where to get seat belts at so that isn't no problem.

Thanks for telling me about Desert Sky Salvage...
Funny that I live in Mountain Home, but I don't even know of all of the places here, yet. Like this one, Desert Sky Salvage, I didn't even know about 'til just now. So I don't know about it, and you say its across the freeway. Across the freeway going towards Boise, across the freeway towards the Airbase, or across the freeway out by Canyon Creek towards Mountain Home Reservoir?

About my house- funny that you say that. I just met someone a couple weeks ago that thought they knew 1 of the previous owners of the '67 Chevy El Camino my dad has.
So my house is 305 Alturas Drive. So is this still the same house you are thinking of?

I just noticed the picture of your car on the left. I noticed in the background what looks to be a stadium with a blue turf. I only know of only one like that around here- BOISE STATE BRONCOS! Go Broncos!

Thanks for finding those windshield drains for me. I went to the link, and found the windshield drains right away.
Glad to hear that Auto City is a good place to get glass. I actually got recommended to Auto City for the windshield by the previous owner of the '59 Impala, so I was just wanting to double-check Auto City for glass by other people too.

Thanks for letting me know of the places to get Impala parts...
And also thanks for places to get new wiring harnesses. I think I will need it. I have quite a few big issues going on with the wiring right now. To say the least- all the issues I am having with electrical gremlins right now is prohibiting the car from being street-legal.

I think I will start a new thread in the builds and projects section here to really go in depth with my car's issues and restoration progress because after all, this was the new member introduction section here.

what is the vin # that will tell us if it was a V8. Also is the fuel line 3/8" or 5/16 and does it go through the driveline tunnel and then under the upper control arm on the passenger side?

I will have to look at the vin # again. Sorry- I am just real bad at remembering #'s.
I am not sure about the fuel line...
I will look at the vin # though...
Sorry for the inconvenience...
