555 heads are truck heads used with double notched 348 blocks. They have small valves and exhaust rotators. They are likely an improved version of the 702 truck heads but could be an interim version of the 333 heads without combustion chambers. Other than measuring runner sizes, the simplest way to tell which family they are from is to read the numbers cast on the bottom of the intake runners. Should be the last 3 or 4 digits of the other castings thst used the same mold.

The block says 71 passenger side above bell housing. Does this make it a truck replacement block from 1971 with a 409 oil pan?

No. That is a Julian date. The 71st day of the year. Julian dates didn't start until sround April of 62 so I suspect this is a service replacement block fro 63 or 64. It should also have CFD cast on it and an X cast on the front drivers side near the waterpump passage. Also should have Armasteel main caps.
