To put this post into context, my problem was odd shifting into second gear. Once in gear it seemed OK. But is seemed to barley make it in gear with often not getting there.
One slider was the torque lock design and the other was not, neither were badly worn. The non torque lock slider was on 1-2. Both of the forks had roughly .040 of wear, and the 1-2 fork was worn at an angle. So I replaced both sliders with new torque lock units, both shift forks, all 4 syncro rings, and a complete bearing kit. It went together nice and easy.
Got the T10 all rebuilt, and upon bench testing the shifting I noticed that the 1-2 shift cam was rocking around in the side cover while shifting into 2nd gear. 3-4 was good. The cam had no measurable wear, the cover had worn bell mouthed. This will allow the fork would lean with the cam and take the slider with it. Could have been one cause of the 2nd gear disfunction. For sure it didn't help the fork wearing at an angle.
I thought I would offer this up to the collective as a fix
Nothing available in the market place to fix the loose bore so, here is my fix.
Rough turned a bronze bushing, finished the OD after boring the cover to ~.750 and setting up for .0015 press fit. Installed the bushing and finish bored the bushing to a .002 clearance fit.
No more rocking around.
Photos of the fix below. Also torque lock and non torque lock slider for reference. Sorry for the dirty equipment.
