I just purchased a 409 motor in the wilds of Valparaiso, Nebraska, with a casting number of 3857656 and I'm confused about the date codes and pad numbers . This web site says this is probably a late 1964, 1965.
The pad number is T0527XG.
The date code appears to be CFD.
It has cuts in the upper cylinders which would mean a truck engine, correct?
The heads are off and the Casting numbers are 3819333 and both have a date code of 100 or maybe 001.
It has a 4 barrel intake.
There is very little ridge in the cylinders but it has a burned exhaust valve; perhaps a resent overhaul with a valve adjusted too tight?
I'm thinking about selling it. Do these truck engines have much value? Most accessories were taken off when removed from service.
Any help is appreciated,
Bob
