I don't know. 2 years after this photo I had 6 parts cars because the aftermarket and the internet didn't exist yet.Great Picture, Randy. I bet 90 % of us Car Guys, can say the same things about growing up, working on our cars and getting a job. Very glad computers and cell phones, weren't around back then.
Turns out a couple years ago when I worked at (www.ADMCARS.com) American Dream Machines. We had a Burgundy 1963 Impala in our inventory fully restored with a 3 on the tree. That car drove like a dream and really got me excited about keeping the 6cylinder 3speed in it. Then some dude name Koontz invited me up to watch him race at Cedar Falls. Soon as those front tires came off the ground on Crusher, I was hooked on running a 409 and I forgot all about that straight 6. I do have a project coming up that my straight 6 may end up in.Man what a great story. Super cool car and pretty rare too. Black six banger/3 speed Impala 2 door hardtop. I know 'rare' doesn't necessarily equate to 'valuable' but I would love to find that exact car now and just drive it as is, all original.
How's the Z project coming you been able to work on it lately? How's Vince?
I am from the Glenview IL area, we would visit that store a lot (60's). They had warehouses around the State Street building that housed used parts, transmissions, engines, springs, rear ends...on and on. They were both the same company with the same address. Warshawsky came first with catalogs then JC Whitney, one was about 10% less between catalogs.I don't mean to hijack this thread, but here is a little JC Whitney history. I used to get Warshawsky and JC Whitney catalogs.

I have everything to make it look the part including the window stickers he had on the car. Depends on how far I can take it. Do you have a line on something to add to the build? Trying to get the car back into my shop to finish body work to lay down the white paint. So is this build still just in the collecting parts stage 1963 Impala 2 door hardtop 512/4spd. Vincent Fiala Z11 Tribute?
Check with Rick Johnson. His brother Bobby ran there a lot. Might have pics.I like the amphitheater pic. My car ran there a couple times I’m told. Really wish I could find a picture of that.
It would be nice to find any other photos of the car. I think I have found a total of 16-17 extra photos so far. Sent them over to Fiala. Hope to make it to his place this weekend after racing. He now has about 24-25 photos of his car.Check with Rick Johnson. His brother Bobby ran there a lot. Might have pics.
When I see him I'll ask.
