I am blessed to have the best friends on the planet! This dream wouldn't be going anywhere with out them. Boy they really know how to spend my money :D:wacko...
White Lightning update for now is 4.88 gears I got from Carl Bucks, thanks James Schrader. 31x10.5W's I got from Dave Mills at Rock and Race. Thanks Ty Baumgartner, and Jeff Asbury with the cnc jobs for my crank trigger and vacuum pump. He sent them off to get anodized and has put a special touch on some new valve covers that will be revealed soon. This is a unbelievable group of guys, and the forum guys are great beyond words! Thank you all for making this "MY" dreams come true and real... as Tom Evers wrote it's a 409 Life.:goodIMG950884.jpg20240808_200923.jpgResized_20240804_145754.jpegResized_20240804_145741(1).jpeg

Surprise!!! :scared2 I Contacted Travis at BLP racing carbs and discovered there is a build sheet for my carbs, Russ, I think through Jim Ruble racing engines ordered these carbs for Russ's 430cid BBC that was in his 62 Bubble top. To my surprise they are way beyond cool, Travis said they would flow 1138cfm at 8800rpm, yes...1138cfm at 8800rpm... Crazy, that's probably why he stumbled when I asked if they were 850's. :wacko he gave me some recommendations where to start. Let's just say you could buy another New loaded set of Bob's heads for what they cost. Thanks Brian LaBombard for selling them to me, I appreciate it.:good Little did I know what I was getting. Now for a little retuning them...:facepalmScreenshot_20240819_092456_Photos.jpgScreenshot_20240819_092337_Photos.jpgScreenshot_20240819_094318_OneDrive.jpgScreenshot_20240819_094258_OneDrive.jpg

Your not ready for carburetor tuning. You have started changing way to many things at once already with out testing any of them.
Tire size and gears are the only changes so far, the crank trigger and vac pump are not big changes. Carb tuning comes after many test passes for sure.

Actually carburetors are not rated at an rpm. It’s the pressure differential above and below the the carb that dictates what it will flow. The 20.4” is equal to 1.5 hg which is what four barrel carbs are rated at. Do you know if the cfm they give is wet or dry flow? There is roughly an 8% difference between wet or dry. As for tuning, I say hp first because that will affect traction, converter, and gearing. Unless one is way off. Then start there.

How much taller are your ;''new'' tires than the ''old '' ones? I know that you went from 4.30 to 4.88 on the rear gear.If the difference i2 two inches or morre, then you won't have any effective difference in your over all gear.Get thaat darned car to a track and test as James suggested. To many changes at one time. That vacuum pump can be worth 30-40 horsepower.

Dan I only know what's on the sheet, and I only turn mine 7000/7200 rpm. All I know is it idle very well it does not load up and there’s no black smoke rolling from the car. It’s also very crisp and responsive.

Yes, I will do it again at the up coming test and tune sept 18th. The plugs have always been dry clean and the heat range is spot on. Ralph always says he wished his plugs were that good!
