Hey 32
Sorry about the late reply, different time zone and busy day at work. Yes the carbs are set up 1:1 , it’s very hard here to get the advice needed especially with the last dyno guy costing me a fortune and handing the car back in a worse state than I gave it to him! I’m not totally sure on...
Regarding the rods on both carbs in this post .057 seems to be the length or power? Is there different diameter measurements or is that for me to work through?

Here’s the link where I read that info, quite a few years ago this discussion. Hence me putting the afbs back on as I have them and it’s worth giving it a try.
Thanks Tom this is a great starting point for me , let the fun begin. I’m running stock manifold & my z33 cam I measured a 53.5 lift rather than the specs of around 56.5 so I’d say it’s had a grind closer to the 425hp range. Might be wrong but should be in the ballpark
I also thought the same but reading a lot of threads on this page and a lot of discussions have been had and the verdict seems to be 625-650 cfm on the afbs. They were never rated but there has been carb gurus that have done tests to figure it out
If anyone has any recommendations with a starting point for rods & jets let me know. I see on another post starting with a .100 primary .074 secondary with a .065 x .057 rod might be what I need? Any advice with the z33 cam and the cast heads is much appreciated
Back again. I’m working my way through my 409 woes after the tuning saga before Xmas . On my budget and after a lot of advice from a lot of members here I’m changing the rear gear ratio & sticking with the z33 cam (for now) it’s worth putting my carters back on as the edelbrocks have defeated my...
Can still see the numbers, so there not completely wiped off. I think a cam change & gear change is where I'm heading. for usability here in nz as we dont have the highways like the USA. it'll take me a while though with my dog needing surgery in a few weeks time, vet bills are killer. still...
I made a carb balancing tool with one of those edelbrock gauges to sync the carbs, did that first off… the first motor was only running off the rear carb only, when you tried to floor it it would shudder and gasp for air. The front carb was doing nothing and not engaging… so I just went to fit...
Did verify tdc. Has sbc balancer and spot welded tag in correct position on timing cover. It’s seemed to run better on a rolling road dyno with no load on . The issues started happening on the road test. 60% resolved today drivability wise but all round dyno kind of got me half way there with...
