My buddy down the street has a 1970 yellow 4x4 International Brush Fire Truck. Fire Trucker Brewery up the street from us just started to "sponsor" the truck for advertisement purposes. The things some people will do for a free beer!
TRUE STORY! Frank and Jen were volunteer fire fighters in Colorado where they met and got married. This is one of the trucks they used in the field all of the time. 2 years ago Frank went out to Colorado and bought the old truck and drove it home. Pretty cool story!

Update, the international is getting a big block and it’s a co owner project with the owner of the international dealer where I work. I’ll build the powertrain and do the work switching the running gear from a 2014 Silverado he owns to the international. By the time it’s done I’ll have just as much invested as him so we’ll own it. I suspect he’ll buy me out and own it himself which I’m ok with.
I really wanted something for myself and surfing marketplace on the weekend found a 64 C10 long bed step side. I couldn’t pass up the price of 5k CDN(4K US) so I bought it. Needs a bunch of fender/cab floor work but otherwise all good even the frame and box.
this is a long term project

If you're looking for more top end power without giving up too much bottom end,go up one step[about 6 degrees] in the .050 duration spec. The roller cams usually have more lift than the flat tappet stuff but you can make a lot of that back up by going to 1,.8 ratio rockers.
Hi Don, I need to get the Cam for this build, so far the bottom is stock 4”, 25 cc dome pistons and 781 heads with 225/188 valves. (Same as the roller engine in the impala). This one however is flat tappet hyd. I know you said to get close to the same hp one step up 6 degrees on the .5 duration but not sure what one step is or how to find an off the shelf cam
This is a pic of the roller cam card

That’s great Don, I’ll give them a call. I actually have a new set of flat tappet hyd comp lifters they sent me under warranty from the ones that failed on the dyno for the 348. Not sure I trust them but I’ll use them.

Sorry to hear you had that happen on the 348. No first hand experience thank God, but I've heard a bunch of horror stories about comp lifters. Read some of the reviews for Comp lifters on Summit Racing. Yikes. Collapsed and won't pump up, wiped out after 15 minutes of run time etc...

Might try Howards or Isky, heard all good things about both. I've never bought Howards but I want to try them out. I have bought Isky stuff and the quality is very good.

I was reading the specs on the engine and forgot it was a 454. LOL! I was like what kind of Frankenstine 409 are you building anyway? LOL! Thankfully I have done enough work on the two 454 engines I have for my jet boat that I realized about 2 minutes later what you had. Those 781 heads are great and with those valves and a little porting make some nice heads. I sat here for about a full minute trying to figure out how and where you came up with 25cc dome pistons to fit a 409. :laugh2

Have another cup of coffee and wake up this morning Randy.:laugh4
Dr. has me drugged up. Ended up with a bad ear infection and it knocked a hole in my ear drum. Thought I would luck out and it would go away but I've had tubes in my ears many times as a kid. Sara and Felix just got over their ear infections. This is only day two and I'm starting to feel better but otherwise I'm not even going out to the shop until my head is cleared up.

Randy, we had to have tubes put in my sons ears when he was very young! He was very sensitive to loud sounds for a long time! I don’t think it bothers him much any more though.
I had tubes 3 times as a kid and finally at the age of 7 they had to go in and cut my ear open (nice scar behind my ears to graft new skin in my ear. I hear fine and haven't had an ear infection since for 35 years or so until after my youngest and my wife got them last month. Youngest has tubes now and wife is fine.
