Safety Tip To Pass Along To Wife and Kids

Here's a little tip for everyone.Put your car keys beside your bed at
night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in
your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be
set off and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off
or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch
coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put
your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you
probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go
off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until
your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key
chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage. If your car
alarm goes off when someone is trying to break in your house, odds are the
burglar or rapist won't stick around.... After a few seconds all the
neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and
sure enough the criminal won't want that. And, remember to carry your
keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the
same way there..... This is something that should really be shared with
everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a >sexual abuse crime. You might want to
send this to everyone you know. Would
also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't
reach a phone. John

Thanks!

Good suggestion. Now all I need is a car alarm. The kind of cars I drive during the day are the sort that no one would bother taking, so they have no alarms. Plus they are from 30 plus years ago! I suspect if you left my truck out in the street with the keys in it, the engine idling, with a notarized title in the dash, I'd still find it there in the morning, albeit with less fuel...

Best,
TomK

I'm with you Tom. (well, sort of) My newest car is a 1972! Unless I add an alarm, it doesn't make any noise other than from the dual pipes. :brow

Great tip though for anyone that has a newer vehicle.

John; would you mind if I add this to our Tips/tricks page? I will give you the credit of course. :deal

I was thinking of that new alarm problem that some of us have and that is that the newest vehicle some of us own is in the "Old Cars Guide" and not in the "black book". If some of us left our cars idling at the curb they would still be there with less gas and in a puddle from a melt down!:roll
Now, on the other side of things Ann went over to Bob Walker's and PaintJohn's side of the bay bridge and has come home with a new Lexus:dunno
