Just bought a 1961 Impala Convertible. 409, 4spd, 4bbl.
Red and white. It is an SS recreation. Totally restored.
I got this same car new for my 16th birthday, May 1961.
It was a 283 2bbl power-glide.
The whole time I had it I drove around in low gear while reaching
down and pretending I was shifting a 4 spd.
