Looking for Identity Help

Just joined your group today. I'm considering purchasing a 61 BelAir 2dr sedan that started life as a 6cyl and now has a 348 Tri-Power - Automatic. Would like help identifying what else on the car would have been different between the 6 and the 8 and should have been changed. I'm aware of the radiator and fuel line size/routing. I will use code information found on this site to help identify the particular 348. I'm a rodder not a purist so the numbers matching doesn't bother me. Any help will be appreciated.

You basically have it covered. To put the 348 in...they would have changed the lower frame motor mounts over to V8. If it runs OK and does not over heat..sounds like you are good to go. If not, just put on 3/8" fuel lines and get a repo radiator and shroud and go cruisin'!!!!!!!!!!! I'm assuming here that the engine starter harness was changed out to the correct 348 harness.

No I was just curious, but if you're in the Pacific Northwest I could offer some suggestions. I think the 61 BelAir is a beautiful car, and with a 348 between the fenders, it would be one sweet ride indeed! Being a rodder, do you have any stories about cars that you or your buddies have owned? We love to hear about 348/409 war stories and I just enjoy hearing any story about an old hot rod. Safe travels and keep us posted man!

The six banger gas pedal arm on the firewall is different then V8 as well. First pic is L6 and second is V8

We could say "we know where Phil's mind is",but that would entail a certian assumption.................and we all know what happens when we assume!:laugh
