Thanks for allowing me to join, I've been a fan of the "W" motors since I was as little kid
when things slow down, I'll post a photo of me , w/ my Mom's 59 impala convertable
( 348) June 1962, I was not quite 3 y.o.
I've been browsing this site for a while, and noticed a 2010 post by member "hammerdown" who was writing a book about his teen experiance w/ his own 57 chevy w/ a 348. The title was supposed to be
"The Ride", the links for his publisher/ FB/ amazon are now expired.
Anyone familiar w/ this?

I can't thank you all enough, for the very friendly replys and info,I liked the concept of the book, I had to have a car after seeing American Graffitti ( my nieghbors moms car was a 70 383 roadrunner, and she drove us to the theatere- we insisted she she drop us off out front) any way 1st 2nd 3rd cars were 56 chevys, have had others , but still own the 56 ba 2 dr sedan from 12th grade (1977), -that's one of the big reason's the story line of the book really appealed to me,( I went thru a bunch of adventures w/ this car, and its been really interesting getting back in touch w/ the various people I knew way back when) I really do love the w motors , but have stuck w/ my 56 , its got a 65 327 ( 030 over, 1970LT-1 intake, and v cvrs, headers, m 20 and 67 camaro 373 12 bolt) it deteriorated badly while I stored it, and pursued other things, my wife has been good enough to encourage me to do a re hab on her( the car , not my wife) and the 56 is back to respectable project car status, you all are really lucky to have your cars and I love your alls photo's

Welcome! My first car (that I bought and paid for) in January 1960 was a '56 Bel Air 2-door sedan, turquoise and white. That was all well and good till February of 1961 when I laid eyes on my first red '60. I was hooked!!!!!!!!!!!!
