Hello. Thanks for allowing me to join. My name is Mike, I'm 30 years old, from Pittsburgh pa. I own a 62 impala with a 283 and a powerglide and a 63 409 4 speed impala. I recently had a 409/472 stroker short block built by Jack Gibbs (very knowledgeable and an awesome guy to deal with) which I am currently working on and getting ready to put in my 63.

It doesn't really have hubcaps on it, I just set them over the cragars in these pictures to see what it would look like with them. I do plan on getting a stock hood for it at some point. The engine on the stand is the 472 stroker thats going in it. That's my son in the one picture helping me take the 348 out that was in the car when I bought it. The story I got from the previous owner of the car was that he was told by the owner before him that it originally had a 409 in it and it was taken out 30+ years ago and put in a 55 chevy. It does have a 7000 rpm tach that looks original and it has the correct radiator for a 409. The only thing it doesn't have is a place on the fuel sender for a return line. Either way it doesn't matter, the car is a blast to drive and I can't wait to get that 472 in it. Oh and sorry, I don't really have any pics of the 62. It's in a million pieces right now and kind of on the back burner till I get the 63 drivable again.

Good looking cars, that 68 is cool. I like the teardrop hood. Is that a glass hood or just the scoop?

Thank you. The chevelle is my dad's. That's just a scoop on mine. Unfortunately it's starting to crack pretty good were it was glassed in on the hood.

Good point. The only thing that is weird is the 7000 rpm tachometer. I thought they only came on the 400hp and 425hp cars and the 340hp's got the 6000 rpm tach. Although the tach could have easily been changed over the years.
