Hi everyone hop all is well ,I just had a 64 409 truck block rebuilt for my 64 Chevy stepside , I'm in the process of selecting a cam , I was thinking of a crane ,or stock 340 horse cam , I want a smooth idle , I have 308 gears it's a 4x4 with 31x 10.5 tires , any thoughts

Welcome to the site. 3.08 gears with a 31" tire will make for a real slug even with the 409. Stock 409 3.5" stroke is a little weak unless you can spin it a little. A 4.10 or 4.30 gear would help a lot.
