Ken you can check casting numbers here:
http://www.348-409.com/cast.html

The 379 shows the following:
Head# 3758379
Year used: 1961
Model: Passenger car
Engine: 348
Horsepower: 250,280
Intake Valve Size: 1.94
Exhaust Valve Size: 1.66
Notes: This cylinder head is the second design. Major design differences from the first design 1958 head #3732791. Water cooling passages have been added around the spark plugs. This head is distinctive as there are cored cooling slots visible at the spark plug relief area.

348 heads

Ken, welcome to the site. We have lots of knowledgeable folks here, eager to share their insights (and opinions!).

Those "379s" are definitely small port heads, they could have been on a "triple three" engine, rated at something like 280 horses.

The 3764702 sounds familiar, I recall having a similar one that came from a 1960 or 61 truck 348 (but I thought mine might have ended in "502" not "702"). The 3815857 casting is a new one to me, but perhaps someone else knows.

My guess is that all three sets are "small port" heads that lead up to the development of the 333s that were later used on the both the 348 and the 409 truck engines.

What blocks do you have, and are these heads part of those more complete engines?

Also, some pics would give us lots of tips to look for in possibly identifying your cache of cylinder heads :).

Cheers!
TomK
