My son was using our 2001 Bonneville, 3800. About 2 months ago he got in to start it. He heard a loud explosion, raised the hood, engine on fire. He got bottled water and a coffee pot full and got it out. It rekindled and he had to do it all over again. It blew the oil fill cap out and nearly everything on top the engine burned, wires, etc. 21 years old, 285K miles. Not worth fixing. I loaded it on my trailer. It went to recycling. I suspect it got gas in the oil, but don't know for sure. It had regular oil changes but was due for another.
