Cleaning Cylinder Head Gasket Surface

I took the head off my 235 6 to have it gone over. I need to clean the head surface on the block with it still installed in the car and pistons in. Anyone have suggestions. I was thinking of using greeny meanys and a vacuum.

You can turn the engine over so all pistons are a little below the surface. Put rags or paper towels in each cylinder. Scrape it clean and if you can, run a large bastard file on the block surface. Then clean the surface and wipe it all the cylinders. Any debris that may be left in The cylinders will be burnt off. It will be a good idea to make sure the head is flat also.

I went with a razor blade scraper and vacuumed then used brake cleaner to finish it off. Came out good I'm going to go over it one more time. the scraper was a great idea I can't believe a brain surgeon like myself couldn't figure this out. Thank you for the great suggestions.

I will do that. I am also going to add thread sealer I don't know if any of the head bolts go to water on a 235.
