I have a 1960 Impala and had a 409 completed rebuilt. It runs great but have to crank it quite a bit. Any ideas what would cause that? Maybe timing(set at 10 degrees) any suggestions. Thanks Jèrry
Is it sitting for several days/weeks between starts? If so pour a little gas in the carb as gas in the bowls may be evaporating. Also, does the choke work correctly?
If you check the accelerator pump squirter for good squirt before attempting to start it what do you see? If you try starting it but it doesn't start pour an ounce or so of gas into carb and try. What is the result?
