1979 Waiting in line to buy gas (lot's of great cars!!!)

I remember that, like it was yesterday.
I worked at a Mobil station, near my house. Drivers became totally crazy. 
People would wait in lines, a half mile long. When they got to the pumps, we told them, you can only have $ 3.00 worth of gas. 
When we closed up, at night, we filled our own tanks.

this happened down my way too, to buy gas on a particular day you either had an odd or even number on your license plate, I used 2 sets of plates to get gas any day
