409 Deck Surface Question, have nick under head gasket ring

You need to either mock it up and measure or do some good measuring. Mock up is probably best. You may have enough left on the deck to just cut and use your Fel-Pro's. The Best gasket is available in .054. Cometics are fine, just more expensive. You need to figure out where you need to be...

409 Deck Surface Question, have nick under head gasket ring

Personally, I can't say as I have a preference. You essentially have 4 choices, Fel-Pro, Best, Cometic and if you can find them, original GM steel shim. Original GM has 348 & 409 gaskets. Different bores. Jeff

The large journal steel 327 cranks are elusive! A cast 307 crank will work if balancing. Jeff

    327 engine

In the aftermarket world I don't think anyone offers a 3.75 stroke/383 crank to fit a small journal crank version block. If your block is the large journal version you can easily make it a 383 and no one will be the wiser except you. You could use the original 327 block & heads. Except the 8"...

NOS 348 tri power valve cover?

From what know the tri power covers had the wire looms shorter. Getting the wires to just barley clear the cover body. On the short loom cover that I have the loom looks taller than a "tri Power" cover. ???????? And I have 2 different heights between L & R. Maybe a GM vendor thing??? But the...

NOS 348 tri power valve cover?

There is no height advantage, the only extra room is at the end because of the shape. Center cover is 59 up style. But can someone elaborate on the difference in loom height of the 2, 58's. The short loom/right cover looks to tall for a tri power cover. Jeff
