Mine is from an 87 grand national. but it's built will all art carr parts. built to handle 900hp, so i think the 180 from the 283 should be no problem for it.
i just looked on the bowtie overdrives site, and they offer a cross member for a 200-4r but it's for 59-64 not a 58. I will call them on monday to ask why the difference and see if they can/are willing to make one.
so according to that cart, a 200-4r would not bolt directly into my '58 with a powerglide? haven't been under the car much (just got it) but do i just move the cross member back or to i need to weld some sort of extension on it for the trans mount. i was advised on this site that it would fit...
anyone ever try to paint headers with the Hi temp cast iron exhaust manifold paint?
or does anyone know a reason it may not work?
Just looking for a cheaper alternative than ceramic coating.
Thanks.
I also have a '58. I have a fully worked 200-4r that i had it my chevelle a few years back. it's an all out race trans, rev man valve body, 13 vane pump billet internals. Anywho, Being that i've only had this car for about 2 1/2 months, i haven't really been under it for any great length of...
I'm leaning towards the 500 box. I'll also be upgrading to a 140 amp alternator, so a new style pump is in my future.
After the money drain of the holidays, i hope to try to put at least $100-$200 a week towards the car, so by the time the weather gets warm, all i have to due is install all...
Thanks! I'll try to get the fluid first and see if the cures the leak. If not, i'll just take it off. Just wasn't sure if the pump acted as some sort of bearing support or not.
The p/s on my wagon leaks like a sieve. Can i unbolt the pump from the generator and remove the lines, and keep it that way? I plan to upgrade to a 605 or 500 series unit. Also will be upgrading to a 140 amp alternator. But if i can clean up the engine compartment for now, i will. But will...
Were did the pcv valve go for '63? I was going on the no pcv in the valve cover idea. When did they move it there? Guess i need to do some more research!:doh
